I know a bit of Maya but just basic stuff. I use it primarily for dealing with 3D models for Unity 3D.

Blender is the easiest thing. I tried 3ds a while back and was repulsed at how slow and complicated everything is.

Just find a good intro tutorial and spend an hour or two learning the basics.

I tried Blender back when it did not have an “undo” button. I actually saw someone in their support forum say it was a good thing because it made you a better artist. I guess the person did not know what an eraser was.
